It is day 26 of #sicksadapril26 but living in Phoenix there's not much water to show and you've already seen my original little mermaid VHS cover so let's rewind to day 23 - Pocahontas and Nature. Yesterday I went to Moon Valley park...my childhood park....with my children! I hadn't been there in over 10 years. There are so many memories in that park. Field trips at school. Eating lunchables. Trying prickly pear jelly on a cracker for the first time in a gazebo behind me on one of the pics (highly recommend anything prickly pear!!) Walking home from elementary school with both hands full - carrying a saxophone and a violin case, scared on the grasshopper bridge because it's hard to see who is coming from the other side lol. My first innocent love. Playing guitar in the park just because. Teenage shenanigans. Teenage trauma. Lucky strikes with a person I don't talk to anymore but still think about nearly every day and care for dearly. I used to run cross country miles after school, lapping around the park 1-2-3-4 times and wheezing with the reddest face you ever saw lol! On the swings after dark, trying to jump into the moon, listening to music using big bulky headphones as the stars shifted through every color of the rainbow. I took a picture I lost of a tree there that had a big heart you could see in the branches. I don't have the original just as you can't see my original memories. But after all this time it's still there ...you just have to look a little harder. Perspective is important. And time. Seeing my kids play and hug trees and run and frolic gave this park a new memory. A new flavor. This isn't just my childhood park anymore. It's the park I went to with my kids after we got Korean food and went to see Sanrio characters and had so much fun. It's the park where the sunset is so beautiful with the clouds I forgot it felt so much bigger than you. And it makes you feel important too, just to witness the glory of it all, the soundtrack of my children's laughter making every step lighter, the sweet air easy to breathe. Day 25 of #sicksadapril26 by @appleandalchemy is Fear Street! I have a humble collection but all of these were gifted to me so they're really special! Thanks so much 🥹 I read the Ghosts of Fear Street book "Who's Been Sleeping in my Grave?" while waiting for an appointment last year. The person was 45 minutes late which happened to be enough time to read it in one sitting (pro-tip: always have a book in your bag!!)! I wasn't mad either cause I was having fun reading! Haha! The super duper - cannot stress this enough - ancient elderly teacher who freaks out the MC has an equally old-fashioned name that isn't revealed til later in dramatic fashion 🪦...And is also the name I named my firstborn. Heeey, they're classics for a reason, right?! 😂 I love seeing how @nostalgiafeverdream (who also made the fear street sign!) always does awesome photoshop self inserts into the covers of fear street and I was inspired to use Procreate on my iPad to put myself into the cover of "Halloween Party" - only, it's "Katoween Party" now 🎃 ...I got my tattoos and everything haha! P.S. If anyone wants to send me more fear street books for my collection, I'm down! I'm also open to trades! Day 16 of #sicksadapril26 is Record Store Rockers/Music I worked at @ziarecords from 2010-2015 and, though that was a decade ago, I'd be lying if I said it didn't shape the person I am today. If you ever worked at a record store, you prob have been asked "is it like (the movie) Empire State Records?" At the time, I'd say no. But on reflection, it was a LOT like a movie...the drama, the messy relationships, the friendships, the MUSIC! From the tweakers we kicked out for making love by the $1 records on the floor, to the people offering me 'spice' on my breaks, to the shoplifters I'd threaten to dropkick if they didn't take the stolen candy bar outta their pants, to the asst manager who came in drunk and harassed me/tried to kiss me at work (challenging friendships because I was honest and he was fired), to the disappointment when I wasn't scheduled to work on the Tegan and Sara signing day, to meeting the band Cursive and getting my copy of "The Ugly Organ" signed, to the secret relationship I had with a glasses and Hawaiian shirt wearing white boy who liked tribe called quest and he tried to play me and his secret girlfriend (but then he got fired for stealing...insta-karma!), to the time I met Chaz Bundick to write a concert review for the Zia Blog, to the time I was hungover and late to inventory after we were told NOT to be late to inventory and felt my manager was like my disappointed Dad (I still think fondly of Jarrett...best boss of all time)...there was no shortage of antics from a group of 20-40 somethings Enjoy the somewhat cringe and somewhat amazing gallery of media picks from my past. I have virtually no pictures of me from that era due to me not having a good phone or internet (poor record store employee lmao) and if photographic records weren't kept on Zia's site, I would be erased. If you have any photos of me from back then, DM me! Zia left a lasting legacy: I am forever on their comp CD vol 9 and the first store to ever carry my book! I visit their locations in NV and AZ. I go to their pop up events. I see familiar faces and friends there, customers and employees alike and smile! I will forever be an ex-record store employee 🎧 #OSA2026

From the candy-coated "electric feel" of her social grid... ...To the spell binding tales in her books infused with humor, wit, so much care and craft, and at times unfathomable darkness (and in great contrast to her warm and kind personality!)... ...To her amazing brain juices that birth ideas like a cozy fantasy snail mail club complete with printable magical coloring pages, stories, stickers, art postcard and more (kickstarter coming soon).... GOOSEBUMPS day 14 @appleandalchemy What a gateway... Into horror, into friendships (as an adult but hey better late than never!), and into writing my own stories! My friend said she added Goosebumps to her library in my honor! A client asked for a little hand inspired by the Horrorland monster and is now one of my closest friends! I traded the work I did on Morrigan and co from Mall of Madness by A.D. Aro for a big ol box of Goosebumps! (SO worth it) And now my library looks extra slimy too! I'd have to list out all my friends I met essentially because of a shared love of Goosebumps and there isn't enough space for that but know I love and appreciate you as much as we love these books!!! When I tell people I wrote a book and that I was inspired by R.L. Stine, they are quick to agree, "I LOVE goosebumps!" ... Whether you read the books, watched the show, or BOTH ...you know what you're in for ... 😨 But I never expected so much love beyond the scare 🥰 Goosebumps = changed my life for the better! Helped me find my people! Oh also I decided to challenge myself and try to 3D model and print a huge project today in one day lol I need to tweak the likeness and use a redder filament for the hair (orange too orange) but overall I'm happy and can easily make version 2 even better!
